L2 is the 1227.6 MHz GPS carrier frequency.
Military equipment can access an encrypted signal that's broadcast on L2.
Newer GPS satellites (Block IIR-M) also include a second civil signal (L2C) and a newer military (M-Code) signal on this frequency.
